The Day a Tour Guide Proved My Point

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about the importance of knowing your audience when designing a travel itinerary. https://www.suzannelieberman.com/post/know-your-audience-why-family-travel-itineraries-need-to-fit-all-ages
Shortly after, Joe (name changed to protect the innocent) took a swing at me on social media.
He claimed a tour guide should just inherently know what the client needs - and, well, he hadn’t even read my post!
So, let’s pause, have a little laugh, and dig into what a great trip planner, and an excellent guide, actually do.

As a trip consultant, I’m not just handing out cookie-cutter plans. I’m a coach, listening, and adapting to each client’s interests and needs.
And yes, an incredible guide is crucial. It's the guide that can bring that itinerary to life, step by step.
But here’s the key: when clients and planners collaborate, when they truly listen to each other, that’s when the magic happens.
If a client is set on their own way, even the best guide can’t fix that.
So, as you plan your next adventure, remember: the best trips come from a partnership: where your voice and dreams, combined with the knowledge and experience of a great trip consultant, help shape a journey that’s truly yours.
And when that happens, a great guide takes it all from plan to pure magic.
